Characters Hacked in Final Fantasy

Something that has been happening for a while, but have been picking up more recently where people will get their charcter’s kicked out of the game on Friday and their passwords already changed on them when they try to log back in.

Worse of all GMs will do nothing but say to call Customer Service when they open. Problem is that they aren’t open during the weekends so they have lost their character completely over the whole weekend. By the time they get a hold of their character all of their items are stripped as well as gil and any Rare/Ex items thrown out and more recently they change the character’s server to another one to change the character’s names.

Even more depressing when they call up Customer Service is that all of the billing and credit card information was swapped and because the person doesn’t have the current information they won’t help them. Even if they have the old information that was before it was changed on Friday.

Something came up that some people discovered was that a few very popular web sites had programs blocked by their firewalls trying to communicate back to these sites. One was FFXIAH and another was Somepage. I’m not sure if these have been fixed yet.

But for the most part what people have learned from basic investigating is that these programs would take a screenshot soon after Pol.exe was ran so they can get your Content ID number and either hope you used the password on any of the other sites that was already hacked or the program would log the keys you pressed and get your password that way.

The worst part of all this is that Square Enix will do nothing to restore your character even though the information is in the logs until you file a criminal complaint with your local police to get a subpoena before they’ll restore any part of the character. While Blizzard would look in the logs ban the players that hacked and restore the character back to the original state.

First Thoughts of Wings of Goddess

After running around the first night I could play getting most of the Maws for fast transportation between the present and the shadow region (the past). Also started the missions to join the Allied Campaign for Allied Notes but didn’t get the time to do anything with them yet.

I joined the Iron Rams (San d’Oria) because that was the first town I came to and didn’t want to find my way to Bastok that night. Tomorrow I’ll see what I can find in the new areas after figuring out where the heck I’m going after I get all of the Maws and maybe mess around with the Allied Campaign.

Wings of Goddess Released!

I finally got my expansion disk after it was delayed because of a manufacturing issue of printing Vista Only on the box so they had to recall all US PC boxes because they were afraid of being sued because it should’ve said “Vista Ready.” We’ll see how the new expansion stacks up against the other ones in the next couple of months.

Over all just 2 new jobs, Dancer and Scholar and no tank job that they promised in the past but interviews said that they couldn’t think of a new tank type job so they dropped the plan and by the end of the expansion they will have the same number of new areas that the original game came with which will be interesting to see what they come up with for mobs and difficulty.
