It’s always nice to find articles still talking about techniques on how much whitespace helps with readability and giving a more polished look and feel to a web site by adding macro and micro whitespace. Some examples were made in the A List Apart article Whitespace by Mark Boulton.
I like the example he uses with the advertisement for a face mask showing how much of a difference whitespace can make. Another thing that I wish web sites would be able to take advantage of would be different fonts with slight changes to add a little more whitespace around letters and lines to give it a lighter feel without actually taking anything away. But there are still a lot of other things that can be done than changing a font. Such as adding a little spacing between each line, using a lighter color for the text and adding some spacing between different objects.
